Dynamath is our monthly magazine that we utilize in our Math class. It is created by Scholastic. Here are a few of the awesome articles we read!
Turtles in Trouble We used a circle graph to determine where most endangered turtles are located in the world. Growth Spurts We used equivalent measures to make conversions in math to figure out how much baby animals and humans grow in the course of their lifetime! Check out the san diego zoo website to see sweet animal cams live and research more about your favorite animal or see how zookeepers use math every day. San Diego Zoo |
Race to Save Rainforests
We read about how Leilani Munter, one of the top 10 female race car drivers in the world is using her fame to help save rainforests. The following is the link to the arbor day foundation’s website which has a lot more info on what kids can do to help this cause! Also check out the virtual rainforest tour! http://www.arborday.org/programs/rainforest/kids.cfm The Water Project While practicing reading a coordinate grid of a map of Kenya, we learned where several wells have been built to bring water to people who need it. This has been possible due to the efforts of The Water Project, an American group that works with local communities in 5 African countries. http://thewaterproject.org/ |
